After going out to the vineyard this year and harvesting more than enough wine grapes I decided to take the plunge and make my own chocolate red wine.

Have you ever tasted the Chocolate Shoppe Red Wine?  It is delicious!

This red wine is sure to make your endorphin’s happy!  Red wine has many health benefits due to it’s anti-oxidants, resveratrol, and some say it is even anti-aging.  When combined with chocolate it is fabulous!

I harvested Melbec grapes at their height of sweetness.  I then fermented them until I got a .99 reading on my hydrometer in a food grade container.

At this point you add 8 tablespoons (per gallon) of a powdered organic chocolate found at any health food store. I did find some settling so if you can find an organic chocolate syrup that might work better.

Add the wine carefully to your container leaving allot of air space because unless you have killed the fermentation process (which I did not do because it adds sulfites to your wine that can cause allergies) it will erupt like a volcano.  Yes, I did make this mistake but I won’t in the future.

Put a cap or cork on the bottle and slowly shake the bottle back and forth until the chocolate has dissolved.

You can continue to age the wine or have a glass!  It is delicious!
